The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee has decided to expel former minister J C Diwakar Reddy from the party for indiscipline.
The decision was taken after PCC President Botsa Satyanarayana was discharged from the hospital here on Tuesday.
Since Diwakar Reddy is the sitting MLA from Tadipatri, Botsa will have to take a formal approval from the All India Congress Committee to endorse his expulsion.
Therefore, he reportedly wrote a letter to the AICC asking them to sack Diwakar Reddy, as the latter had made serious comments agaisnt Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
Former minister Mohammad Ali Shabbir, who addressed the media along with Botsa, said that Diwakar Reddy should introspect himself before making remarks against Sonia Gandhi.
He also added that Diwakar Reddy and his brother would lose their identity in the district without the Congress party.
He claimed that Diwakar Reddy and his brother would find no place in any political party after their exit from Congress.
It may be mentioned that Diwakar Reddy had sought the resignation of Congress president Sonia Gandhi from the post following party's drubbing in the recent Assembly elections in 4 states. (INN)
