The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle C16 (PSLV-C16), an innovation of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), is all set to be launched on April 20th, at 10:12am.
The PSLV-C16 will be launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC), located at the Sriharikota Range in the Nellore district, said media reports.
The launch was announced after ISRO Chairman K Radhakrishan held meetings with the scientists involved in the project to scrutinize and review the technical readiness of the vehicle, and asserted satisfaction on the same.
Sources from the Sriharikota Range revealed that the PSLV-C16 will launch a 1,200 kg Resource Sat2, a 95kg Youth Sat and a 105kg XSat into orbit. They also said that the countdown for the launch will begin at 4.12am on April 18th.
Radhakrishan and the scientisits who have worked on the launch vehicle have their fingers crossed, and have taken extra precautionary measures as the GSLV FO6, the last rocket launched at Sriharikota Range, had failed to take off.
The PSLV-C16 will undergo a final round of inspection on either 18th or 19th of April, the sources said.
