Director General of Police V Dinesh Reddy, at a presser, assured that security is of utmost importance, and that all possible measures are being taken to ward off further "attacks". He also issued a warning to the people to be careful, and to report anything that arouses their suspicion at the nearest police station.

He also requested that the press show discretion, and confirm their suspicions with the police before splashing them all over the front pages.

When asked about the failure of intelligence with regard to the Dilsukhnagar blasts, Reddy said that they keep receiving information on a regular basis, from Central and State Intelligence Bureaus, and that this information is acted on with immediacy and efficacy. "There is no need for ypou to think that action is not being taken," said the DGP.

He also informed the media that heavy security arrangements have been made around all temples of Lord Shiva as Maha Shivrathri is due to take place this Sunday.
