"The state government is drawing up plans to clean and beautify the
Hussain Sagar lake in the next 5 years by spending Rs. 330 to 350 crore," Assembly Speaker Kiran Kumar Reddy said on Friday.
The speaker was addressing the gathering after inaugurating the 25th National Laser Championship as part of the Hyderabad Sailing Week at Secunderabad Sailing Club on the banks of the lake.
Reddy described the Hussain Sagar lake as "more beautiful than any lake in Kashmir".
He said that the city is among the fastest developing cities of the world, and that its hosting of international sporting events is part of this pace of development.
The speaker said that the state government will extend all possible cooperation to the organisers of these international sporting events.
Reddy congratulated the Secunderabad Sailing Club and the EME Sailing Association for jointly organising the international sporting event in the city, under the banner of the Laser Classic Association Of India.
LCAI president Lt General IJ Singh said, "Defence employees are making the country proud on the international scene, apart from discharging their duties as protectors of the country."
Secunderabad Sailing Club president, in his welcome address said that the city can boast of having infrastructure for hosting international sporting events.
