Achala Bakshi, alumna of the Department of Plant Sciences, School of Life Sciences, University of Hyderabad, was given the Springer SPBB: Young Investigator Award for excellence in plant biology for 2019 by Springer Nature, India, and the Society for Plant Biochemistry and Biotechnology (SPBB), for "outstanding" contributions made in her Ph D research.
The award was given during the National Conference on Integrative Plant Biochemistry and Biotechnology held at ICAR, Indian Institute of Rice Research.
Bakshi completed her Ph D under the supervision of Prof P B Kirti in the Department of Plant Sciences, and also won the university's gold medal and the Rajendra Kumar Nigam and Meera Nigam Best Ph D Thesis award in 2019.
She is currently working as a post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Biotechnology, Indian Institute of Rice Research, financially supported by DBT, GoI.
