Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has decided to hike the salaries of the GHMC sanitation workers again.
The CM had earlier hiked the salaries of the workers over a year back, but Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao, GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan and GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy requested the CM to hike them once more citing that they were working hard to keep the city clean.
Against this backdrop, the CM held a review meeting at Pragathi Bhavan on Tuesday. He then decided to increase the salaries by Rs 1,500 per month. At the time of the Telangana State formation the salaries were only Rs 8,500 per month, and the CM had increased them to Rs 12,500. The new Rs 1,500 hike will make the salary Rs 14,000 per month.
There were requests for an increase in the salaries of sanitation workers of other municipalities, too, and the CM responded positively to those, too. The CM said that in Hyderabad the GHMC was paying the salaries, and wanted Principal Secretary Navin Mittal to find out the financial position of the other municipalities for whose workers such requests were made. The CM said that the decision on the hike would be taken after getting the required information.
Chief Secretary S P Singh, Mittal and Reddy and others participated in the meeting.
