A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed in the Hyderabad High Court against banks' refusal to disburse cash to the customers from the latter's own bank accounts.
Former Minister M V Mysoora Reddy filed the PIL expressing grave concerns over people being put through "innumerable hardships and agony" by banks after allegedly refusing to release money to account holders from their own accounts.
Pointing out that since the last three weeks following the demonetization of the high value notes, customers, especially the middle and the working class besides small businessmen and traders, were unable to draw money deposited in their bank accounts.
The PIL pleaded the HC to direct banks to provide the relief to account holders and give them access to their money.
Admitting the PIL, the court posted adjourned the hearing on Tuesday.
