Speaking at the Women's Parliament in Andhra Pradesh today, Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama said, "We should respect women as they can ensure promoting deeper human values. Scientists now say that women are more emphatic, that is, they are more sensitive to the sufferings of others."
Addressing the inaugural session of National Women's Parliament on Friday, Dalai Lama said that there were 200 nations on the planet, and more women leaders would bring about a safer world," the Buddhist monk observed.
"We have to analyse what went wrong in the 20th century. At this very moment, people are killing each other. We cannot remain indifferent to the conflicts of the world because we are all one. We have to think how to create a more peaceful 21st century," he said.
"Women ought to develop self-confidence. The perception of women as being weaker needs to debunked. Work hard with determination and confidence," Dalai Lama exhorted the women members present there.
"Now, education is a key factor in promoting and strengthening our basic virtues of love, forgiveness, and compassion, things that are found more in women than in men," the spiritual leader claimed.
