Telangana, which has seen a
sharp rise in the incidence of Covid-19 cases recently, continues to record more cases.
The health department's Covid-19 bulletin, released this morning, revealed that as many as 74,274 tests were conducted in the state yesterday, and 1,914 persons tested positive. With this, the state currently has 11,617 active cases, and 6,634 persons are under home isolation.
The GHMC area continues to be a hotspot with 393 new positives. Cases were also recorded in the districts of Adilabad, Bhadradri, Jagtial, Janagaon, Bhupalpally, Gadwal, Kamareddy, Karimnagar, Khammam, Asifabad, Mahabubnagar, Mahabubabad, Mancherial, Medak, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Mulugu, Nagarkurnool, Nalgonda, Narayanpet, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Peddapalli, Siricilla, Rangareddy, Sangareddy, Siddipet, Suryapet, Vikarabad, Wanaparthy, Warangal, and Yadadri.
Five people succumbed to the highly communicable disease yesterday. With this, the total number of Covid-19 deaths has now reached 1,734.
On a happier note, the state also recorded 285 recoveries. This has pushed up the tally of cumulative recoveries to 3,03,298.
Meanwhile, the Centre recently stated that the next four weeks will be a critical phase of what looks like India's second wave, and urged the people of the nation to be very careful and take all the necessary precautionary measures to protect themselves from the fatal disease.
