Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal, on Saturday, opined that the party would have won more seats if Rajya Sabha member K Chiranjeevi was given a berth in the union cabinet.
Talking to media persons after offering prayers to Lord Venkateswara at the Tirumala temple during the VIP break darshan in the morning to mark Ashadi Ekadashi, Lagadapati Rajagopal said that the party received a drubbing in the hands of the YSR Congress mainly due to a sympathy factor over the CBI's arrest of YSR Congress party president Jaganmohan Reddy.
Rajagopal said that the party would have won more seats if star campaigner K Chiranjeevi were included in the Central cabinet.
He also expressed confidence that the Centre would resolve the Telangana statehood issue by August.
The MP said that there would be no change in the leadership in the state before the 2014 general elections. (INN)
