Representatives For SKC Report

The Congress has chosen Seemandhra MP Kavuri Sambhasiva Rao and Telangana MLA N Uttam Kumar Reddy as representatives for the Srikrishna Committee Report conclave.
Hyderabad | 3rd January 2011
Seemandhra MP Kavuri Sambhasiva Rao and Telangana MLA N Uttam Kumar Reddy will be the representatives of the Congress party at the all-party conclave called to deliberate on the Srikrishna Committee Report before it is made public in New Delhi on January 6th.

Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President D Srinivas announced the names of Sambhasiva Rao, the MP from Eluru from West Godavari district and Uttam Kumar Reddy, the MLA from Huzurnagar in Nalgonda district as the party´s choices before media persons at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday.

Srinivas further added that he would visit New Delhi on January 5th to coordinate with the party High Command over the issue.

When asked to comment on the decision of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to boycott the crucial meeting, Srinivas said that the parties had their own reasons and they could exercise their choices.

The Union Home Minister is expected to hand over copies of the 800-page report of Justice B N Srikrishna Committee at the meeting, and then call for deliberations and seek their suggestions on how best to proceed with the recommendations offered by the panel.

After eliciting the suggestions of parties, the Home Minister would make an announcement revealing the contents of the committee report in New Delhi, the PCC chief pointed out.

He expressed confidence that the SKC Committee Report would offer a permanent solution to the separate statehood issue.

Reacting on the Congress members extending support to Odarpu Yatra of former Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in Visakhapatnam, Srinivas said the High Command would take appropriate decision at an appropriate time.

Earlier, both Sambhasiva Rao and Uttam Kumar Reddy had called on the PCC chief´s residence and discussed the issue with him.

Meanwhile, Uttam Kumar Reddy´s name as the representative from the Congress party is likely to be met with objections from the party leaders from Telangana who had already made their opposition clear saying that Reddy was close to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy. The Chief Minister is known for his ´Integrated Andhra Pradesh´ stance.
