Congress Truly Committed To Social Justice: Uttam

TPCC head and MP N Uttam Kumar Reddy today claimed that the Congress was the only party in the state that was truly committed to social justice.
Hyderabad | 5th March 2021
TPCC head and MP N Uttam Kumar Reddy today convened a virtual party meeting along with Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka regarding the upcoming MLC elections in the graduates' constituencies of Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahabubnagar and Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda.

At the meeting, he pointed out that the Congress was the only party in the state to have chosen to field an SC or ST leader for the elections in the two constituencies.

"The commitment of the Congress to the ideals of inclusivity and social justice are reflected in our choice of candidate for the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda MLC seat. We have chosen an ST leader, Sabavath Ramulu Naik as the candidate for the post. The other parties in the state have all nominated leaders from the Reddy community as their candidates from the constituency. They cannot claim to care for social justice after this," the TPCC head said.

"It is therefore the duty of the party's cadre to devote themselves to ensuring Ramulu Naik's victory. We must do all we can to support our candidate. It is important to defeat the TRS candidate hopeful of winning the seat, incumbent MLC Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, as he has not done anything for the welfare of either the graduates or the unemployed youth in his tenure. The ruling party is now trying to win the elections by spending its ill-gotten money on supplying liquor among voters," he added.

Saying that the main fight for the seat would be between the Congress and the pink party, Reddy asserted that voting for TJS leader M Kodandaram would "go waste" as he would not be able to do much for the people and urged the graduates in the three districts to "unitedly vote only for the Congress candidate" and defeat the TRS.

The MP also claimed that owing to the "growing discontent" with the ways of both the BJP and the TRS, there was a strong chance that the Congress would go on to win both the MLC seats in the upcoming elections, and encouraged the party's cadres to work hard to woo the voters of all the six poll-bound districts.

"It is likely that the voters in the two constituencies will reject both the TRS and the BJP. While the Centre has only been burdening the people of our country by hiking fuel prices endlessly, the TRS regime in the state has not been able to do anything meaningful to combat unemployment in Telangana. In fact, both the ruling parties have not been able to generate employment in adequate numbers. Why should anybody vote for them in the upcoming elections then?" Reddy asked.
