Congress MLC T Jeevan Reddy on Saturday said that there was no clarity on the issue of crop loan waivers despite over a year of the TRS being in power after getting re-elected in 2018, and that this was hurting the farmers of the state seriously.
He said that some 6,000 farmers had committed suicides so far since statehood for Telangana, and that the suicides had not ended despite crop loan waivers being promised and Rythu Bandhu being introduced, showing that those were mere pronouncements and not really being implemented fully.
He added that his party had information that the benefits of Rythu Bandhu were being given to only those who had less than three acres of land. He demanded that the state government implement the Rythu Bandhu scheme without any restrictions to help all farmers.
He also demanded that the state government extend crop-loss compensation to the deceased farmers as well, and support tur dal farmers.
Targeting Nizamabad MP and BJP leader Dharmapuri Aravind, Reddy alleged that Aravind had reneged on his promise to get a turmeric board to Nizamabad within five days of getting elected, even after executing a bond on the issue. He reiterated that Aravind should stay in Delhi and return only after getting the board.
He added that the Congress MPs were continuously fighting in Parliament about the problems being faced by the people of the state.
