Cong Election Loss Unexpected: DS
Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President D Srinivas said that the Congress would take the responsibility for the party's unexpected loss at the MLC elections.
Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President D Srinivas on Wednesday stated that the outcome of the Legislative Council elections was not as expected.
Talking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, the PCC chief stated that the Congress expected to win 6 out of 9 seats. However, the party won only in 3 constituencies. He said that the PCC would order a probe to find those leaders who resorted to cross-voting and adversely affected the chances of the ruling party candidates.
"We need to introspect what went wrong in the elections. The High Command will take action against the leaders who worked against the party's interests," he said.
Further, he stated that the District Congress Committees and the state leadership would shoulder the responsibility collectively for the loss of ruling party candidates in the elections. Moreover, he said that steps will be taken for rectifying lapses in the elections after getting reports from DCCs.
