In a tragic incident, a farmer died on the spot after being hit by a car while he was crossing the road near the Sri Sai Akanksha Filling Station near Narketpally in the Nalgonda district on Saturday.
Farmer Venkat Reddy (65) of Edavalli village was trying to cross the road when the car hit him and he fell on top of it.
The car driver sped fast towards Vijayawada trying to escape chasing locals, failing to realize that the farmer's body had fallen atop his car.
The car proceeded for some 20 km carrying the body on top before the police, who had received a complaint, stopped it at a later point.
The police arrested the two persons traveling in the car including the driver, a Rahim Khan of Hyderabad. The car was a Maruti Ritz with registration number AP09 BY2725.
