Endowments Minister C Ramachandraiah strongly opposed the proposal of formation of Rayala-Telangana, by merging districts of Rayalaseema with the Telangana region.
Talking to reporters here, Ramachandraiah said that the proposal was politically motivated, and that some leaders were trying to capatalise on the situation.
He informed that he has sent a detailed report on the issue of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh to the Group of Ministers (GoM), with a special focus on the concerns of people of Rayalaseema region.
He said that the backwardness of Rayalaseema failed to draw the attention of successive governments, and now a few leaders are speaking about merging the 2 districts into Telangana.
Ramchandraiah made it clear that he was in favour of a united Andhra Pradesh. However, he said that some Seemandhra ministers have been talking about packages only if state's division was inevitable. (INN)
