Hyderabad | 14th November 2010
Slamming the centre for failing to order a proper investigation into the allegations of irregularities in the allotment of 2G spectrum, former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president M Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday demanded a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the issue.

Talking to media persons after participating in a program, Venkaiah Naidu demanded that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh order a JPC probe into allotment of 2G spectrum as the country had suffered losses in thousands of crores of rupees due to the alleged irregularities in the allotment.

The senior BJP leader also demanded suspension of Telecommunications Minister A Raja from the cabinet by claiming that the report submitted by the Comptroller And Auditor General was a clear indictment of the Union Telecom Minister. "The government should come clean on the issue by ordering a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe" Venkaiah Naidu demanded.

The BJP leader also demanded that the government order a thorough investigation into Commonwealth Games scam, and Adarsh Cooperative Housing Society scam in Maharashtra where the houses reserved for kin of Kargil martyrs were allotted to influenctial persons.

Venkaiah Naidu also demanded that the government give permits for farmers to export their produce to other countries in order to get better prices.

The BJP leader called upon MPs to mount pressure on centre to get national project status for Polavaram Irrigation Project. "The MPs should rise above their political affiliation to get national project status for Polavaram project," he said.
