With the Allahabad High Court set to deliver its verdict on the Babri Masjid title suit on Thursday, Chief Minister K Rosaiah, on Wednesday, appealed to all sections of society to maintain peace and remain calm, thereby helping the administration to maintain law and order in the state.
Talking to media persons after convening a meeting with security arrangements in the state capital with Home Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy, Health and Family Welfare Minister Danam Nagender, Information Technology Minister Komatireddy Venkata Reddy and Minority Welfare Minister Mohammed Ahmedullah at the Secretariat, Rosaiah called upon people to respect the verdict of Allahabad High Court and maintain restraint.
"Whatever the verdict, the people should respect it and maintain communal harmony. They should not resort to violence by taking law into their hands," Rosaiah said.
Rosaiah said that the state police was geared up to meet any kind of situation and act tough against anti-social and vested elements, who resorted to violence and take law into their hands.
Reacting to the news that the government of some other states in the country have declared holiday on Thursday, as a part of the measures to prevent any outbreak of violence, Rosaiah said that no such decision would be implemented in Andhra Pradesh.
The Chief Minister said that the state administration had taken all precautionary measures to deal with any kind of situation, and declaring a holiday would "create a sense of insecurity and fear in the minds of people."
Earlier, Rosaiah conducted a review meeting on security situation in the state with Intelligence Department officials.
In the meeting, he directed the officials to identify sensitive areas and deploy additional forces to prevent untoward situations.
