The
proposed 48-hour long autorickshaw bandh from Sunday midnight has been deferred to 24 September (Friday).
Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad on Sunday, TRS Labour Wing president L Roop Singh said that the bandh was postponed in view of RTC employees participating in the ongoing general strike from Monday onwards.
He said that since examinations are going on in several schools and colleges, students would face hardships if both RTC buses and auto-rickshaws go off the road. Therefore, the 48-hour bandh will now start from 24 September midnight, he said.
Roop Singh said that thousands of auto-rickshaw drivers would participate in rallies and dharnas on 24 September, demanding statehood for Telangana. An autorickshaw rally will be organised on 25 September, which will culminate into a public meeting. (INN)
