Asthma Fish Medicine Distribution From June 8

Elaborate arrangements have been made for the administration of the famous "fish medicine" reputed to cure Asthma, on June 8 and 9 to mark Mrigashira Karthi.

The program will start at 9 am on June 8 at Exhibition Grounds in Nampally, and will continue till the next day. The Bathina family will administer the medicine to tens of thousands of people who will come from several states, most of them asthma patients. As many as 1.32 lakh fish will be used for the exercise.

This was stated by Animal Husbandry & Fisheries Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav after he inspected the arrangements with a team of officials and interacted with some of the people who had already come to the venue.

The state government is coordinating with Bathina Harinath Goud's family to conduct the event (the medicine is the family's proprietary creation, and the family has been administering it for five generations of its now), and has made several arrangements, including counters for distributing coupons, special buses to transport people to and from the venue, police staffing to ensure order, toilets, drinking water, Rs 5 food facility starting from June 7 itself, PA systems and lots more.

The minister still appealed to voluntary organizations and social workers to help conduct the mega event.
