Amrapali Made Joint CEO To Correct "Anomalies" In Voter List

The IAS officer will help monitor the IT efforts involved in rectifying the alleged irregularities in the voter lists in Telangana.
Hyderabad | 21st September 2018
The Election Commission of India today appointed GHMC Additional Commissioner Amrapali Kata as the Joint CEO (Chief Electoral Officer) of Telangana.

Kata, who was the Collector of Warangal till recently, was just some days back appointed as a GHMC Additional Commissioner.

Now, ahead of the Assembly elections in the state following the dissolution of the House, the ECI has engaged some additional officials for related duties, and Kata's appointment will help monitor the IT-related matters of the elections in the state.

Since the political parties in the state have made complaints of large-scale irregularities involving removal of tens of lakhs of voters from the voter lists, and there is therefore a need to check the veracity of the voter lists and ensure correct data, the EC is making use of several of the latest technologies, and Kata will look into this part.
