Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Working President A Revanth Reddy, who had been silent ever since he lost the election from his Kodangal Assembly constituency, got back to his vitriolic best on Monday, making some sensational comments against TRS leader and former minister T Harish Rao.
Reddy said that Rao wouldn't be inducted into the state cabinet by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao during Tuesday's cabinet expansion. The reason behind Harish Rao missing the cabinet berth, he said, was that the latter had committed several irregularities in the execution of irrigation projects without the knowledge of the Chief Minister.
Reddy alleged that Rao took Rs 1,000 crore in bribes in the mid-Manair, Gourelli and Thotapally irrigation projects. He also alleged that Rao gave contracts to his benamis and pocketed all the money, and that Rao had also spoken to BJP national president Amit Shah without the knowledge of CM KCR.
He said that the CM was ready to indict Harish Rao in a passport case if the latter revolted against him.
Reddy also said that Thummala was denied a cabinet position as he had addressed KTR as Ramu.
Talking about the recent Assembly elections, Reddy alleged that the police department had ensured that votes were polled for the TRS, and that that was the main reason for the defeat of the Congress. He said that 60% of the people who had become sarpanches in his Kodangal constituency were supporters of the Congress.
Commenting on former Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari, Reddy termed the senior politician as honest, and asked KCR why he was not being given a cabinet berth. He said that there was no minister from the Madiga community in the state cabinet.
