The Amberpet police on Thursday produced before court the 6 accused in a murder case which shook the city on May 30. The accused were remanded to judicial custody.
According to East Zone ACP G Someshwar Rao, the 6 had barged into the house of Syed Qamaruddin and bludgeoned to death Qamaruddin, his wife Sajida Begum, Mohammed Abdullah Biyabani and Mohammed Kirmani. One other victim in the attack, Neha Afreen, died due to her injuries in hospital, on June 2.
The sensational case in which prime accused Syed Jahangir and his accomplices - which included his two sisters Banu and Tasleem - hacked his estranged wife Neha Afreen and her family members. The incident occurred at in Premnagar in the Amberpet area at about 6.30am on Sunday.
Syed Jahangir and his sisters, his sister's husband Jabbar, and his relatives Kareem and Shareef, together killed his father-in-law Qamaruddin, mother-in-law Sajida Begum, and his brothers-in-law Mohammed Abdullah Biyabani (25), Mohammed Kirmani (28).
According to the police, Jahangir bore a grudge against the family for filing a dowry harassment case against him. In the duration of the case, his mother also died, and that intensified Jahangir's anger against his in-laws.
A court had ordered Jahangir to hand back the dowry that his wife Neha Afreen had brought with her when they got married two years earlier. Neha had filed for divorce from her husband 3 months into their marriage, alleging dowry harassment at the hands of Jahangir and his family.
On May 30, Jahangir and his accomplices had knocked on his in-law's doors. An unsuspecting Sajida Begum opened the door. She was immediately hit with an iron rod brought by the killers.
The attackers also had 3 swords and one other rod with them. After gaining entry inside the house, the men started to bludgeon the inmates while Jahangir's sisters, Banu and Tahseen kept watch at the door.
Within minutes 4 members of the family were wiped out.
