As many as 485 Class IV employees of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) living at various service quarters on a rental-basis in Hyderabad and Secunderabad are likely to get benefits if the State government considers to regularize them.
Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav appealed to Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao on the issue and urged him to consider the regularization of the quarters under G.O. No. 58 issued earlier which suggests ownership rights to the people staying in service quarters.
Of the 485 workers staying at these service quarters, some are retired and a few have died while the rest are poor. Viewing the persistent appeals, Yadav sought regularization of the houses in the name of the workers staying there for quite some time.
He submitted a memorandum to KTR, who in turn assured considering the issue and that he would take a decision at the government level.
Yadav had, in the recent past, made a similar appeal to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who then asked the GHMC to submit a detailed report and steps to be taken.
The GHMC, which formed a three-member committee for the same, submitted a report to the Principal Secretary of Municipal Administration. In the report, it was mentioned that the poor people residing in these quarters for a few years had been urging regularization, and it was for the government to take a final call.
KTR promised that a high-level meeting of officials would be called to settle the issue, the release said.
