The Sanjiva Reddy Nagar police on Friday arrested 2 notorious vehicle lifters, and recovered 29 motorcycles worth Rs. 15 lakhs from their possession.
According to Detective Inspector K Kishore Kumar, the accused have been identified as P Balakrishna (29) and Shaik Khaja Hussain (25), both residents of Film Nagar, Hyderabad.
They were caught late on Friday night at the Kalyan Nagar crossroads while they were travelling on a motorcycle under suspicious circumstances. The police stopped them for a routine check, and took them into custody after they failed to give satisfactory answers about the ownership of the motorcycle they were using.
The accused persons confessed that they used to steal vehicles parked in front of business establishments and other places using fake keys. They also revealed that they had committed most of the offences during night hours.
They confessed that since December 2010 they had stolen 29 motorcycles from various places within the S R Nagar, Sanathnagar, Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills PS limits.
The police revealed that out of the 29 vehicles stolen, 14 vehicles have been unclaimed. The police also said that P Balakrishna had been arrested earlier in association with a murder case.
