Hyderabad DCC president and Congress candidate for the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat Mohammed Waliullah Sameer today claimed that he has been receiving significant support from the people of Hyderabad in his ongoing election campaign, indicating a desire among the people for a change in the political landscape.
Speaking to media persons after holding a review meeting with party leaders and workers on the next phase of the election campaign for the Lok Sabha elections, Waliullah Sameer claimed that his campaign had garnered strong response across all the seven Assembly constituencies within the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency.
"The campaign is in full swing in the Charminar, Bahadurpura, Yakutpura, Malakpet, Gosha Mahal, Chandrayangutta, and Karwan constituencies. Hundreds of Congress workers are conducting door-to-door campaigns, organising bike rallies and holding public meetings with the slogan Haath Badlega Halaat," he said.
Sameer criticised the MIM, which has held the Hyderabad seat since 1984, for neglecting the Old City and failing to address the community's needs. He also said that the BJP has fallen short of its promises.
"Hyderabad's potential as a tourist hub has been held back by the narrow political agendas of both the MIM and the BJP. Decades-old promises still echo through our streets, but action - not just words - will truly transform Hyderabad. And the Congress is promising just that - action to revitalise the Old City and make it a modern destination rivaling Istanbul," he said.
Sameer urged the people of Hyderabad to reject the MIM and the BJP for their divisive approached to politics. "The BJP is busy handing out certificates of Hindutva, while MIM is validating Muslim leadership in other parties," he said.
