The corridors of the Telangana BJP are abuzz with speculation that president K Laxman will be replaced.
Senior party leader and former Maharashtra Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao has already said that there will be new presidents for the party for the two Telugu speaking states. He added today that the appointment of the president would be made by the party high command, and that he was not in the race for the post.
Pointing out that he had worked under the leadership of his juniors like Bandaru Dattatreya and G Kishan Reddy earlier, Rao said that he would continue in the same manner in the days to come.
Targeting the Telangana government later, Rao said that the resolution passed by the state cabinet on the CAA would not have any impact, and advised the state government to change its decision on the issue. Citing that no protest programs had been held in the state on the issues of Article 370 and triple talaq, and claiming that that showed that the huge majority of the people supported the BJP's moves in that area, he said that the people were with the BJP on the CAA too, and that some anti-BJP political party leaders were trying to stoke unnecessary agitations on the issue through demagoguery and divisive rhetoric.
