The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has demanded that the Andhra Pradesh government order a CBI inquiry into the Tirumala Venkateswara Swamy ornaments and pink diamonds issue.
Speaking to the media on Sunday, VHP official spokesperson Ravinuthala Shashidhar lashed out at the TTD former chief security officer Ramana Kumar, asking the latter why he had failed to conduct an inquiry when allegations had erupted when he was in service.
Shashidhar asked Ramana Kumar who he was trying to shield in the episode by making comments now. He said that the negligence of the officials was clear if one read Ramana Kumar's media statement carefully.
Shashidhar also asked Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu why he was making retired officials speak on the issue instead of speaking about it himself. He also asked the TTD officials if they were preparing reports based on others' words.
He said that the facts would come out only if the government ordered a CBI inquiry into the issue.
For the uninitiated, former Tirumala temple chief priest Ramana Dikshithulu has alleged that the gold ornaments of the deity had been systematically vanishing.
