Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader M Venkaiah Naidu on Monday predicted that the state and central governments would collapse by March-end this year due to rampant corruption, and new challenges looming on the horizon in the form of a yet-to-be-launched political party of former Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
Speaking to media persons, Venkaiah Naidu predicted that the state would witness massive political upheavals after Jaganmohan Reddy announced the formation of his political party, while the United Progressive Alliance government led by the Congress at the centre would collapse due to the involvement of its ministers and other leaders in scams.
The BJP leader said that the Congress government led by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy in the state was in for tough times ahead, while Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had no grip on his cabinet ministers.
Expressing serious concern over the rising prices of essential commodities, Venkaiah Naidu said that the people were vexed with the centre´s inability to control inflation. He said that union ministers had failed to do their duties, and take preemptive measures to check the price-rise.
Commenting on the verdict given by the Krishna Water Dispute Tribunal, he said that state had suffered serious injustice, and the Krishna delta would turn into a desert soon with lakhs of acres of land becoming barren due to lack of water.
Reacting on Srikrishna Committee´s recommendations, the BJP leader said that the panel had wasted one year and crores of rupees of public money. Even after one year, and after the report of the committee, the situation was as confusing as ever, he stated.
Venkaiah Naidu urged the centre to take a decision on the formation of a separate state by introducing a Telangana bill in Parliament in the budget session, and fulfill the aspirations of the people.
