The Shamshabad police were jolted with a report of a brutal crime in the Madanpally region at 6:30am this morning, wherein a woman's legs were chopped off by thieves for her silver anklets. Locals who found the victim, Padma, lying in a pool of blood alerted the police, who rushed to the spot and transported her to the Osmania Hospital.
The accounts given by various people allows us to establish the following sequence of events: Padma was on her way to the market during the early hours of the morning, when she was attacked by an unknown number of thieves, who grabbed her gold chain and chopped off both her legs for her silver anklets. They then left her lying in a pool of blood and threw both her amputated legs around her.
The Shamshabad police, who reached the scene of crime after being alerted by the locals who chanced upon her, rushed her to the Osmania Hospital. Her amputated legs are at present being examined at the forensic labs to discern any fingerprints of the culprits. The police were unable to find any sort of evidence at the crime scene, not even the weapons used to sever Padma's legs.
Padma is at present suffering from extensive loss of blood from her wounds. Her legs have been heavily bandaged in an attempt to stem the flow of blood from her body. Representatives of various political parties have rushed to the hospital to 'console' Padma, and are demanding that the government disburse her appropriately.
