The Jayashankar Bhoopalapally district of Telangana has been ranked no. 1 among "Aspirational Districts in India" under the health and nutrition category, in Niti Aayog's development rankings.
The Centre has been releasing special funds through Niti Aayog to 115 backward districts in the country for improving the living standards of the people in them. These special funds are to be spent on health, education, nutritious food, agriculture and allied sectors, irrigation facilities, financial assistance to the needy, creation of infrastructure etc.
Ranked on improvement on these parameters, the district, which saw special attention paid by the Collector Vasam Venkateswarlu, stood 86th last year, improved its rank to 35th sometime back, and has now achieved the no. 1 ranking, in the health and nutritional programs' implementation category.
With this ranking, the district will be getting additional funds of nearly Rs. 30 crore.
Telangana Chief Secretary S K Joshi in a message complimented the Collector and his entire team.
