TRS working president and Telangana IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao today expressed satisfaction at the reported success of the party's ongoing membership drive in the state.
Speaking at a virtual conference with the party's district in-charges and local leaders, Rao instructed them to keep digital records of the membership drive's details, and to record the details of those enrolling as well.
He also praised the leaders and party workers for their commitment to the drive, and asked them to continue to focus on increasing the party's membership by attracting the local people by addressing their issues.
"The party plans to increase the membership from its existing 60 lakh members to 80 lakh and more. We should succeed in our efforts to reach our target by February-end. Focus your energies on achieving this," KTR told the local-level party in-charges.
The local leaders then informed him that the given targets had already been met at various places, and that the enrolment figures had surpassed the party's expectations.
The minister, happy with this information, said that the people of the state were responding well to the drive as they were happy with the welfare and development programs the TRS government had undertaken.
It is pertinent to mention here that the timing of the launch of the membership drive coincides closely with
the upcoming MLC elections in two of Telangana's graduates' constituencies - Hyderabad-Mahabubnagar-Rangareddy and Warangal-Nalgonda-Khammam.
