Steps for the construction of the second phase of Hyderabad Metro Rail project are being expedited by the authorities of the state government.
The Delhi Metro Rail has given the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the airport expressway, and the government has invited tenders for the execution of the DPR.
The authorities are planning to take up the metro rail project from Raidurgam to the Shamshabad international airport, and other routes, in the PPP (Public Private Partnership) mode. Although the state government is ready to take up the airport expressway project on its own, experts are saying that the cost can be brought down drastically if it is done under the BOT (Built Operate Transfer) mode.
An elevated Bus Rapid Transport System (BRTS) is also being planned in the city, for 18 km from the Kukatpally Housing Board Colony, and it has been decided that the BRTS and other transportation projects too will be taken up in the PPP mode.
