The Telangana Assembly elections will be conducted separately, and will not be combined with those in the four other states going in for elections later this year.
Telangana Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar today rejected reports that elections for Telangana would be clubbed with those in the four other states.
Some newspapers had reported that the Election Commission had taken a decision to club the Assembly elections of Telangana with those in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Mizoram and Chattishgarh. Kumar clarified that such reports that appeared in some sections of the media were purely speculative, and that the elections for Telangana were not going to be held separately. He also appealed to newspapers and the electronic media to verify the facts from the relevant officials before broadcasting anything.
The EC had conducted a meeting in Delhi and expressed satisfaction at the poll arrangements in the state, and a team of officials would soon arrive in Hyderabad to take stock of the same once again and then announce the election schedule, Kumar said.
