Protesting the state government's adamant attitude in addressing the farmers' issue, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) rank and cadre, in association with Left parties, picketed the District Collectorates across the state on Wednesday.
The activists raised slogans against the government, and tried to barge into District Collectorates in an attempt to paralyse the administration.
However, the police foiled their attempts and resorted to lathicharge, and arrested a few activists.
The activists condemned the state government for not responding properly to TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu's hunger strike for farmers which entered the 6th day on Wednesday.
In Hyderabad, TDP senior leader T Devender Goud picketed the Collector's office accompanied by thousands of activists, and paralysed the administration.
In Anantapur, TDP MLA Paritala Sunitha was injured in police lathicgharge. In Warangal district, the activists stoned the RTC buses as part of agitation. In Nizamabad the activists ransacked the DRDA office, and damaged the furniture and files. In Ongole, the police arrested former minister Kodela Shiva Prasad for picketing the Collector's office.
The activists demanded that the government make efforts for addressing farmers' problems.
