Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu on Friday claimed that the issue of granting Special Status to Andhra Pradesh was being actively considered by the central government.
Naidu gave this assurance to the members of the Students' JAC of Andhra Pradesh who staged a protest before his residence in New Delhi on Friday.
The JAC leaders said that the provision of granting Special Status to the residuary State for 10 years was clearly mentioned in the A P Reorganisation Act, 2014, and therefore the promise should be honoured.
Naidu assured that he would try to use his influence to get Special Status for AP.
He said that several central institutions were being set up in Andhra Pradesh, and on an average he was getting approval for at least one project each month for the State.
He added that he was trying to get maximum projects for both the Telugu states. (INN)
