Former Telugu Desam Party member and MLA Pocharam Srinivas on Tuesday insisted that Deputy Speaker Nadendla Manohar accept his resignation from the Legislative Assembly immediately.
Srinivas pointed out to mediapersons at Assembly media-point that though he had tendered his resignation to Manohar last Friday, the Deputy Speaker had not accepted it so far.
The leader, who was elected to the Assembly from Banswada constituency in the Nizamabad district on a Telugu Desam Party (TDP) ticket, had resigned from the House as well as the party to work for the formation of a separate Telangana state.
The MLA added, "I had resigned from the Assembly for the cause of Telangana. I wanted to express my solidarity with those who died for the cause of a separate state, and I also have to fulfill the aspirations of 4-crore Telangana people."
Srinivas also condemned the Deputy Speaker for not taking any action against Agriculture Minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy for attacking TDP MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakhar. He alleged that Manohar was showing discrimination in imposing punishment against the people of the Seemandhra region.
He urged Manohar to take stringent action against the Minister so that such unfortunate incidents don't occur again.
