Telangana Finance Minister T Harish Rao today said that the government would make payments in just 72 hours to farmers after purchasing their produce.
Speaking to the media at Sanga Reddy, Rao said that he had also instructed the officials to set up even more purchase centres upon demand by local leaders, to avoid issues due to the rains.
Rao also instructed the officials to see that the purchase centres were located at some heights to overcome water-logging.
He also asked them to arrange for adequate gunny bags and equipment for the paddy and grain procurement.
Training to women's groups on purchasing and procurement of produce with 17% moisture was also a priority, the minister reportedly told the officials. Paddy with 17% moisture needed to be procured within 24 hours from the farmers, and the produce shifted to the godowns within another 24 hours, he said.
