Telangana Director of Public Health Dr G Srinivas Rao today stated that there was no proof that a third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic would hit the state.
He informed the press that currently, there was no need to worry about the third wave and said, "The second wave of the pandemic is now totally under control. So far 1.20 crore people have been vaccinated in Telangana. Slowly, all the remaining unvaccinated people too will get inoculated as this is an effective way to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Right now, both case figures and the fatality rate in the state have dropped drastically. This is due to the effectiveness of the pandemic prevention measures taken by the state government as well as its success in providing adequate vaccine stocks, medical oxygen, and treatment facilities across the hospitals of Telangana. Seasonal diseases and allergies are also under control."
"The government, under the guidance of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, has been able to bring down the positivity and fatality rates in the state. The ongoing vaccination drives will be run continuously in the state to immunise those who are yet to take the vaccine. Almost 50% of the population in the state has already been vaccinated. 30 lakh are to take their second dose in the next few weeks. We are planning to administer the second dose to them from July 15 to August 15," the senior official added.
Rao then stated that those above 18 could now get vaccinated across 100 centres in Hyderabad. He also lauded the TRS government for providing clean water to the people of the state through the Mission Bhagiratha program, and claimed that over the last two years, incidences of water and vector-borne diseases and fallen significantly as a result of the availability of clean water in the state.
