Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday evaded a direct reply on whether his party would join the Telangana Rashtra Samithi Government in the Telangana State.
Speaking to media persons after meeting TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao at the latter's residence here, Owaisi neither denied nor admitted to news reports of his party's plan to join the Telangana government.
He said that more than the cabinet berths or any positions, the people's welfare was more important for his party.
Accompanied by his younger brother and MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi and MLC Syed Aminul Hassan Jafferi, the senior Owaisi held discussions with KCR for over an hour in the presence of KCR's son K Tarakarama Rao, T Harish Rao, Nayani Narasimha Reddy and others.
Owaisi said that the TRS Government should use Charminar as the insignia of Telangana.
It should prioritise the completion of the Krishna drinking water project, besides resolving the energy crisis in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
He also requested KCR to waive off the pending electricity and water bills in Hyderabad.
The MIM President said that Telangana should be the first State to introduce the Communal Violence (Prevention) Bill.
He added that Telangana could not growth without having absolute control over law and order. He asked KCR to ensure installation of CCTV cameras throughout the city to keep an eye on anti-social elements and extremist activities.
Offering his party's support to the TRS Government, he hoped that Telangana would emerge as the most developed and vibrant State in the country. (INN)
