Activist V Ratnamala, TRS MLA K T Rama Rao, TJAC leaders Addanki Dayakar and Rasamayi Balakishen, K Swamy Goud, and several others have been arrested during an attempt to go ahead with the 36-hour Samara Deeksha being organized by TPJAC chairman Prof. M Kodandaram, despite restrictions placed by the police against meetings, dharnas or protests at Indira Park, Gun Park, New MLA Quarters, Raj Bhavan or the State Legislative Assembly.
In a statement to the press, KTR, who was taken to Kanchanbagh police station, showered fire and brimstone on his arrest, and those of the others.
"The police tell us that we have been arrested on the mere suspicion of mischief. Seemandhra politicians like Gurunath Reddy have clearly said that they are not above using violence to reach their goals, and they only get protection from the police," said KTR.
TPJAC leader Addanki Dayakar, who has also been taken uder arrest, said, "Undavalli's treacherous speech was not only sanctioned, but also endorsed by the government. [PCC Chief] Botsa attended this [Jai Andhra Pradesh] meeting where so much was said to provoke Telangana people, and cause injury to their sentiments. But they won't give us permission to peacefully protest at Dharna Chowk, where protests are meant to be conducted."
