Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) spokesperson G Niranjan Reddy today said that Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao should take responsibility for the death of the 12-year-old girl Subedha Kapuria who drowned in an open nala at Malkajgiri on Friday.
"KTR should resign from the ministry for his reckless handling of it," Reddy said.
Reddy added that the residents of Greater Hyderabad were living in hellish conditions, and were afraid of coming out when it rained.
KTR was routinley misguiding the people with figures and wasting the time of officials with his review meetings without taking up any concrete measures to safeguard the lives of the people, he alleged.
"Why were precautionary measures not taken at vulnerable places despite heavy rains taking place for the last several weeks? Having known that a woman had drowned at the same place few days back, why was care not taken? Who is responsible for the death of the young girl? Who is responsible for the agony of her parents? Is it not the failure of the municipal administration minister K T Rama Rao, the area's MLA Mainampally Hannumanth Rao, the area's corporator and officials that the tragedy occured? They should be arrested by booking criminal cases against them for negligence on their parts," Reddy said.
During the recently held Assembly session, on September 16, KTR had rudely countered Bhatti Vikramarka for questioning him on Hyderabad's development. KTR had asked if the Congress leaders did not have eyes that they were unable to see the development when going on Hyderabad's roads. God showed the state of the development to the world on the same day by pouring rains on the hapless city, Reddy claimed.
The criticism of Akbaruddin Owaisi, MLA and leader of the MIM in the Assembly, which was a friendly party of the TRS, itself proved the plight of Hyderabad, Reddy said.
After ruling the state for six years if KTR continued to blame the previous governments for his lapses the public would not entertain him any more, Reddy added.
