BJP national Vice President and former minister D K Aruna today accused the Telangana government and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar of neglecting the Sri Jogulamba Bala Brahmeshwaraswamy Group temple at Alampur, in Gadwal district.
Speaking to the press, she demanded that the state government take immediate steps to develop the famed temple, and the temple town of Alampur as well.
Aruna also hit out at the CM for not "spending a single rupee" on improving the Jogulamba temple, and pointed out that the temple, the only Shakti Peetham in Telangana, had the potential to be developed into a flourishing spiritual destination.
"The CM has not released any funds to develop the Jogulamba temple. This, despite the fact that the Centre offered Rs 36.76 crore for the latter's development - the KCR government has still not released the funds. The people will not tolerate this deliberate negligence. The government must immediately start working towards equipping the temple with all the infrastructure it needs," the BJP leader said.
She added that if the Telangana government had the funds to develop the other temples in the state, it would have to develop this one as well.
The BJP leader's remarks came right when the CM's family - his wife, daughter (MLC K Kavitha), and daughter-in-law - visited the temple today to offer special prayers.
The union government recently sanctioned funds worth Rs 36.73 crore for the development of the Jogulamba temple under its Pilgrimage Rejuvenation Advancement Drive, and for the development of the temple city as a tourist destination. The temple premises will reportedly be equipped with a host of modern amenities, including parking facilities, CCTV cameras and lighting systems, soon.
