Congress MLC T Jeevan Reddy today demanded that the Telangana government immediately reveal the details about any increases or decreases in employment opportunities in the state.
He reminded Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao that the latter had once claimed that there were 1.7 lakh vacant government posts in the state, and asked what had happened to these vacancies.
The leader pointed out that the report of the C R Biswal Committee had also revealed that there were 1.97 lakh vacant posts in the state and asked the CM to come clean about the current number of government jobs.
Alleging that KCR had "cheated" the government employees of the state on the issue of interim DA, Reddy mocked him as being a CM who alone was aware of the employee-friendly policies of his government.
He claimed that the recent PRC had not been a personal act of magnanimity on the part of the state government but that it was an increase being given to the employees to adjust the cost of essential commodities, a right. He added that the process was one that needed to be undertaken on a yearly basis.
The MLC said that the state government was now claiming that it would implement the PRC with effect from April 2021 while noting that the interim relief, meant to be implemented from June 1, 2018, would not be extended to the employees any longer.
Referring to the appointment of former TNGOA chief K Ravinder Reddy as a member of the TSPSC, he claimed that Reddy had forgotten about the rights of the government employees immediately after his appointment, and asked the latter who gave him the right to violate the rights of the other employees of the state.
Jagga Reddy is not alone in making such attacks against the TRS regime. It has been facing immense backlash regarding the filling of vacant government jobs in the state. Recently, Y S Sharmila too had made
similar remarks about the state of employment generation in Telangana.
