Jagtial MLA M Sanjay Kumar, a TRS leader, today said that he would sacrifice his seat to make way for former MP K Kavitha, who lost the Nizamabad Lok Sabha election.
Speaking to mediapersons on Wednesday, Kumar said that he was ready to vacate the seat for Kavitha if she wanted it.
He also said that Kavitha would not contest from Huzurnagar, and should contest from his constituency (the Huzurnagar Assembly seat has fallen vacant after MLA and TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy won the Lok Sabha election).
His statement comes at a time when the TRS leadership is caught in some panic after faring quite poorly by its standards in the Lok Sabha elections, winning only 9 of 17 seats, down from the 11 it had won in 2014 (the party had expected to win 16 Lok Sabha seats). KCR's daughter Kavitha was one of the losers, and lost despite KCR himself campaigning for her. The leadership is still unable to digest the debacle.
