Ace shuttler P V Sindhu paid a courtesy call on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in Tadepalligudem on Friday.
Jagan took the opportunity to felicitate Sindhu for winning the gold at the BWF World Championships on August 25, and promised five acres of land for her to set up a badminton academy in Visakhapatnam.
Sindhu was accompanied by her parents and State youth affairs minister M Srinivas Rao along with officials from the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to the media after meeting Jagan, Sindhu said that she had met him as a courtesy call, and expressed happiness that he had promised her five acres for an academy in Visakhapatnam.
She also expressed her happiness that her name had been recommended for the Padma Bhushan by the AP government.
The Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh has organised a special felicitation ceremony for Sindhu at the Thummala Kalakshethram in Vijayawada on Friday evening, and the Chief Minister is likely to attend the event.
Sindhu also went to Vijayawada and met the Governor Biswabushan Harichandan at the Raj Bhavan. Harichandan too congratulated Sindhu for winning the gold medal, and wished her success in future matches as well.
