City Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma on Friday said that the security arrangements in the Old City would continue for a few more days till the situation turns "completely" normal.
Talking to reporters at Charminar Police Station, the Commissioner said that nearly 5,000 devotees offered Friday prayers at Mecca Masjid amid tight security on Friday.
He said that some youth resorted to slogan-shouting, and that a few of them also hurled stones, damaging a car. However, he said that the devotees disbursed peacefully, and that the situation returned to normal within a few minutes after the prayers.
Anurag Sharma said that patrolling would continue as usual, and that pickets would continue to be deployed at sensitive and strategic locations.
Thanking the people for their cooperation in maintaining peace, he aid that he hoped that complete normalcy would return soon to the Old City, to the days when shops were permitted to remain open till late into the night. (INN)
