GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan on Monday performed a palabhishekam (a bath in milk) to a portrait of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for allocating Rs 10,000 crore in the 2020-21 budget for the development of Hyderabad.
Corporators of the TRS also took part in the program.
Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor expressed his happiness over the allocation of the whopping amount by the state government. He said that the money would help complete pending projects like the cable bridge to Gandipet (Osman Sagar), which would be launched by the end of May. He also said that the number of Basti Dawakhanas would be increased to 350 in the days to come. He also said that the construction of 25,000 free double bedroom houses houses in the corporation limits had been completed, and that the construction of another 40,000 houses was underway.
On the Hussain Sagar rejuvenation works, the Mayor said that the works had been stopped by the corporation as Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was preparing a Master Plan for the overall development of the state capital.
He said that the corporation was also trying to increase the literacy level in the state capital.
He scoffed at reports of mid-term elections to the GHMC.
