A junior assistant named Jaya Kumar, working in the Directorate of Medical Education at Koti, was trapped by sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau while demanding and accepting a bribe from an employee for passing a medical bill of his father.
According to ACB sources, complainant Kishan of Bachupally had submitted a medical bill of his father for reimbursement/sanction in the inward section of the DME office on June 9.
Receiving the bill, Jaya Kumar demanded Rs 4,000 from Kishan for sanctioning the bill.
Kishan bargained and agreed to pay Rs 2,500. However, not willing to pay the bribe, he approached the ACB officials.
The officials arranged a trap and caught Jaya Kumar red-handed while he was accepting Rs 2,500 from Kishan. They then registered a case against him for demanding and accepting a bribe.
ACB Deputy SP Syed Fayaz said that the ACB officers also raided the house of the accused in Firzadiguda and checked it for incriminating evidence.
