In a setback to the Telangana government, the High Court on Tuesday directed it to avoid demolishing the Secretariat buildings to build a new one on the premises, until October 14.
The court was responding to a clutch of petitions on the contentious issue.
The court also said that it would hear the case after the Dasara holidays.
The court directions come at a time when KCR has called for a cabinet meeting at Pragathi Bhavan on Tuesday. He is likely to decide on the dates for the razing of the existing structures in the Secretariat and the laying of the foundation stone for the new building in the meeting, along with other issues including the new revenue act.
The secretariat was closed last Sunday as all the departments had vacated the premises.
The court has already quashed a petition to raze the historic Errum Manzil structures, which KCR intended to do to build a new Assembly building.
